Police are appealing for witnesses after armed gunmen robbed the William Hill betting shop in High Street, Aveley.
The robbers, aged between 16 and 20, wore stocking masks and blue tracksuits.
They entered the shop at 4.30pm on Tuesday. One pointed a black handgun at staff and they made off with £800 in cash in a silver carrier bag.
The alarm was raised by the manageress. The robbers ran off in the direction of Aveley Park.
Police are interested in tracing a Vauxhall Nova car which was seen in the area.
