Another furious mum has slammed a school which failed to spot her son had fractured his wrist.

Michelle Ruby, of Nottage Close, Corringham, was shocked when she read in the Evening Echo about Beau Holland, a pupil of Giffards Infant School, who was sent back to class after he broke his wrist. She said her son had the same experience.

Her five-year-old son Sam, also a pupil at the Corringham school, fell over in the playground and it was not until a couple of days later that she realised something was seriously wrong.

She said: "The school hadn't told me anything about the fall. The day after it, he woke up complaining his arm was hurting. I thought that was because he slept on it oddly.

"At the weekend it got worse. Then my seven-year-old daughter told me he had fallen over and he'd had an ice pack on it.

"We went to the hospital and found he had fractured it. He had it in plaster for three weeks."

Michelle, 30, said she went to the school to complain but no one seemed to listen to her.

A spokesman for Thurrock Council said: "After a fall in the playground on Thursday June 11, the school followed the procedures for dealing with playground injuries and the child received first aid from a qualified first aider.

"There was no evidence of swelling or any other signs that would have indicated a broken arm."
