Police today urged the public to be on their guard after five air guns and hunting knives were stolen from a van.
The weapons are a potential danger in the hands of children and should be handed into police if found.
Officers believe the thieves could try to sell the two air rifles and three air pistols to people in the south Essex area.
The theft took place on Sunday between 11am and midday at Langdon Nature Reserve car park, in Langdon Hills.
