A car dealership wants to build new premises on green belt land in Thundersley.
Essex Ford is pressing ahead with plans to relocate to land behind the Sainsbury's store in Stadium Way, near Rayleigh Weir.
The current Ford site in Stadium Way, just off the A127, could be demolished to make way for an extension of the retail park.
The extension would be 2,967 square metres and would be in addition to 11 other large stores already based at the site. An additional 123 car parking spaces are planned.
Access to the site would be from Phoenix Way and Claydons Lane with separate service road access from Stadium Way and Claydons Lane.
