A trickle of sponsorship looks like becoming a tidal wave of support for Maldon brothers Alex and Stafford Williams who have vowed to swim the River Blackwater for charity.
Alex, 38, and Stafford, 41, are determined to raised thousands for the Maldon Buddies Children's Centre and Cancer Research UK by swimming from the end of the Maldon Prom Extension to Bradwell on August 31.
The feat has never been attempted before but Alex, of Longfellow Road, Maldon, is confident they can manage the ten miles in four hours.
The brothers will be accompanied by rescue boats and has captured the imagination of Maldon's fundraisers.
"Fundraising is going quite well," said Alex.
