WASPS swarmed around a woman and stung her dozens of times after she disturbed their nest.
She was airlifted to Colchester General Hospital showing early signs of anaphylactic shock.
The 46-year-old Colchester woman was working in the garden of a house in Mill Lane, Colne Engaine, when she disturbed the nest.
She was surrounded by wasps and stung repeatedly on her neck, hands and legs.
The woman managed to get away from the swarm and call for help at a neighbouring house.
The air ambulance was despatched and landed in a field next to the house.
Her condition was not known today
