Creative youngsters have unveiled a mosaic they made in memory of a fellow pupil who died of cancer.
The art piece will be on permanent display at Mayflower Primary School, Dovercourt, in honour of ten-year-old Declan Heath.
Headteacher Margaret North said the mosaic had been based on a picture drawn by a pupil on the day Declan died.
It is separated into three sections to reflect different stages in his life, from a rainbow-filled sky to a darker period and the return of brightness.
Mrs North said: "It is all done in glass and ceramics and even includes parts of Declan's West Ham football mug that has been broken into pieces for it.
"It really is beautiful, quite subtle, and the children have worked so hard for it."
Dovercourt artist Daphne Sandham helped pupils create the piece.
Declan, of Ashley Road, Dovercourt, died in January after a brave 18-month battle against cancer.
