Man-made rafts were launched in a mid-Essex town as part of the annual River Festival.

The Higgins Homes Raft Race took place on the River Chelmer from Backnang Square in Chelmsford.
Any club, pub, shop or office were invited to enter for the afternoon of fun with the bonus of being able to win one of several prizes of £100 and £50.
The best decorated raft and crew were also given the opportunity to win £50.
The event was organised by The Inland Waterways Association and The International Lions Club of Chelmsford.
