A motorist needed nine stitches after he was slashed across the face in a road rage incident

The 22-year-old victim, of St Osyth, was driving his black Ford Focus car along Clacton Road in the village.

At the crossroads he turned right into Colchester Road and police say it is possible that while carrying out this manoeuvre he crossed the path of an Astra travelling from the Bury which intended to carry straight on into Clacton Road.

A spokesman for Essex Police, said: "Instead the Astra also turned down Colchester Road and followed the victim for about half a mile flashing his lights and indicating to the victim to pull over."

She said the victim continued along Colchester Road past its junction with Bypass Road and eventually pulled over into a lay-by entrance to a farm where the attack happened.

The attacker was described as white and about 25-years-old. He was 6ft tall, of slim build and had blond collar-length gelled-up hair.

He was wearing a cream or white hoody and dark blue or black tracksuit bottoms.

It is believed he was British but the suspect spoke in a Patois accent, the accent of Caribbean street language.

The Astra he was driving, which could have had at least one passenger inside, was dark blue or black and quite old but it had noticeable three-spoke alloy wheels.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Acting Det Sgt Sean Adams at Clacton CID on 01255 221312
