Traders in Braintree may benefit from a special event which will see them displaying goods outside.

At a recent meeting of the marketing sub-committee of Braintree Town Centre Traders' Association, members entertained the idea of holding a "Town Day".

Sub-committee member John Jemison told members that the idea had been put forward to give retailers an opportunity to place goods for sale outside shops or to have a table outside the museum.

He explained such an event could be a repeat of the Braintree Royal Charter anniversary celebrations in 1999 when events were held in the town.

Members suggested schools could also be asked to participate with maypole and country dancing.

It was said it was too late to organise this year but a possible table sale could be arranged, which will be put to the Braintree town centre marketing sub-committee.
