Voluntary worker Peter Strawson is a man who loves a challenge.
When he injured his back in a traffic accident in 1990, he was told his walking days were over. But just four years later, he trekked the 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats just to prove he could.
Now he's planning a sponsored 24-hour walk along Clacton seafront to raise much-needed funds to replace an ageing minibus for use by clients at Dorson House, a drop-in centre for people with mental health problems.
Peter, 61, of Cann Hall, Clacton, is donning his trainers to walk between Clacton's Martello Inn to Holland throughout the night and day on Saturday, July 24.
He starts at 4pm from the Martello Inn and hopes people will come forward to sponsor him and to join in as he pounds the upper promenade.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Peter can contact him on 01255 424815.
