Craig Fagan will miss Colchester United's pre-season friendly at Conference club Farnborough Town tonight.

The livewire former Birmingham City striker, who also missed Saturday's win at Grays, is forced to sit out again for the run-out at Cherrywood Road with an injury to his side.

U's assistant manager Geraint Williams told the Evening Gazette: "Craig had a good workout in training yesterday having been suffering with a sore side.

"So, as a precaution, he won't be involved in the game at Farnborough tonight.

"The injuries to Craig, Kemmy (Kemal Izzet) and Karl Duguid are the only downside on what has been a good pre-season for us so far."

Boosted by wins over Braintree Town, Saffron Walden and Grays in the past week, confidence is running high in the Layer Road squad.

And Williams said the U's will be travelling to Farnborough with a full squad where the players are expected to spend a little longer on the pitch.

He said: "Apart from the own goal at Saffron Walden we (he and manager Phil Parkinson) are fairly happy with the way the club's pre-season programme is going.

"Jamie Cade and Wayne Andrews have both got their names on the scoresheet and we are monitoring everything daily."
