Women who took part in this year's Race for Life in Braintree are urged to send in their sponsorship money as soon as possible.
The organisers of Cancer Research UK's 5km at the Great Notley Discovery Centre in May, hope their effort will smash the previous fundraising record when all the money from the 1000 participants is in.
In 2003 only 54 per cent of the women who entered raised any money.
Liz Cummings, organiser of the Braintree event, said: "We all know that collecting sponsorship money can be difficult and take time, but our experience shows that it is best to do it as soon as possible after the event.
"A good way to remind sponsors is to send an e-mail or letter after the race letting people know all about your experiences on the day."
