A school principal who has retired after 20 years will always have a part of his college close to him.
Mike Watson has left Tendring Technology College but staff made sure he would have a keepsake of the school.
He was presented with a box made out of floor tiles from an old classroom.
Vice-principal Alan Osborn said: "A lower school technician had salvaged some Parquet-flooring from an old science lab and made it into a box so that he will always have part of the college."
Mr Watson was also presented with a final school report filled in by teachers, pictures of lower school in Thorpe, and the technology department made him an oak table among other gifts.
