Journeys to three schools in Southend have been made safer through a new Puffin crossing and associated guard rails in Bournes Green Chase, near the busy roundabout junction.

The new safety feature has been made possible through a partnership between Southend Council's Safer Journeys to School team, Alleyn Court School, Thorpe Hall School Bournes Green Infants and Junior schools and LA Fitness.
Council travel plan adviser Julia Moreland said: "The schools have already benefited from flashing warning signs outside the school buildings to warn approaching drivers and the new crossing will help children walking to and from the schools each day.
"Future proposals to encourage sustainable transport around the schools include a possible cycle lane and we look forward to future developments."
