A "lying" 16-year-old yob has been locked up for eight months after threatening and assaulting a witness due to testify against his friend.
The unruly teenager from Basildon's Craylands estate, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty at Basildon Magistrates' Court.
District Judge David Cooper heard the young witness, who also can't be named, was attacked as he walked in Northlands Park, at Felmores.
The youth attacker was given four months in a young offenders' institution for causing actual bodily harm and another four months for intimidating a witness.
