An annual golf day which has raised thousands of pounds for deprived children in Kenya will also help a charity closer to home.

Reg Patel's charity golf tournament will be held on Wednesday, July 28, hoping to add to the much-needed funds for his chosen charities.

Mr Patel, whose dental surgery is based in St Michael's Lane, is raising the money for the Kenya Schools' Project and the Leywood Parents' and Friends' Association.

It is the first time the event, to be held at Braintree Golf Club, Kings Lane, Stisted, has sponsored a second charity.

Leywood Parents' and Friends' Association was behind a new property named Allen House, situated at the junction of Courtaulds Road and Coggeshall Road.

Its function is to serve as a 24-hour supported care home for adults with disabilities and the a proportion of the funds raised will go towards financial support to enable them to complete the structural work in their garden.
