Basildon enjoyed a convincing eight wicket win over their lowly rivals -- courtesy of an excellent all round performance from Michael Gray.
Having won the toss and elected to field, Gray helped Basildon bowl the home-side out for 164 -- taking 3-42. Wayne Morgan also chipped in with 3-26, while Steve Brown took 3-66.
In reply, Basildon reached 165 for the loss of just two wickets as Morgan excelled.
He hit an unbeaten 91 and was well supported by Kieran Sangani (42) as Basildon enjoyed a rare triumph -- much to the delight of skipper Paul Ayres.
"It was a very professional performance," he said. "We bowled and batted well and deserved the result. They might be bottom of the table but it's not an easy place to go."
