A plea has today been made to give a teenage "terror" another chance.

Aaron Barnham was issued with an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) for "terrorising" Colchester's Greenstead estate in February

He was excluded from Sir Charles Lucas Arts College last year and now gets two hours of tuition a week.

The 14-year-old's mother, Sheena, claims her son has been punished and he needs to get back to school to help change his ways.

Youth justices allowed Aaron to be identified and he was forced to wear an electronic tag for three months.

If he breaches the Asbo, which bans anti-social behaviour, he runs the risk of going to prison.

Mother-of-four Sheena, of Spruce Avenue, said: "He is a 14-year-old boy. He deserves a second chance. They keep bringing up the past, but at the end of the day every child is entitled to an education."

Paul Butler, deputy head at the school, in Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester, said assessments were being carried out with the help of social services.
