Vic Hennessy has completed a hat-trick of successes in the mixed fours at the Southend Men's Open Bowls Tournament by retaining the title.
Not this time - Bernard Regan in action for John Clark's beaten fours finalists
His Wickford Royal British Legion line-up of wife Sheila plus Tim and Delia Searle repeated their 2003 success, having previously won the crown in 1998.
Their latest victory was rarely in doubt as they pulled off an 18-8 success after 19 ends over the all Rochford line-up of Jeanne Bowtle, Sylvia Jordan, Vic Brady and Mike Spackman.
The fours final saw two teams from outside the immediate area in action and it proved a rather one-sided affair with Ron Waller's Brentwood line-up moving into a 10-0 lead after 10 ends against John Clark (Billericay).
The Brentwood line-up eventually won 24-10 on 19 and the two-week long Tournament came to a conclusion minutes before a heavy thunderstorm hit the Priory Park area.
