A drug and alcohol service targeted at young people is sending out a loud and clear message at a series of re-launch meetings.

The Essex Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service has secured new funding to take its vital work forward and turn around the lives of as many troubled teenagers as it can reach.

Last week managers and workers from EYPDAS chose Brentwood as their starting point in a programme of open days and launch events throughout Essex in July.

Sgt Graham Shaw, of Brentwood Police said: 'Drugs and alcohol are related to many other offences, including violence and other crimes people commit to feed their habit. We have got to reach young people at an early stage and move them on.'

For further information about the Essex Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service call the young person's centre on 01245 493556. There is a telephone helpline during office hours on 01245 493311 for young people, parents and professionals.
