Bookworms at a Canvey school were delighted when comedy actor and writer George Layton spent a morning giving them tips on story writing.

The visit was the highlight of Furtherwick Park School's literacy week, designed to celebrate reading and writing skills.
Activities throughout the week included book reviews, mini saga writing and handwriting competitions.
Selina Garcia, literacy co-ordinator for the school in Furtherwick Road, said: "It was a delight having George here. He entertained and enthused the pupils with his stories."
Mr Layton, author of several hit TV comedy series, spent three hours with nearly 200 students.
