After a rain delay Benfleet were relieved to see Harold Wood run out of time just 12 runs from victory.

Benfleet thus secured a draw after posting 171.

Andy Prophet top scored with a stylish 78 and was backed up by both Paul Tresnor (16) and Paul Wright (14).

Due to the rain Harold Wood had just 28 overs to rattle off the runs but, following a fine bowling spell from Chris Shaw (3-56) Harold Wood fell 12 runs short of the winning target.

"The weather made it a difficult wicket to bat on," said Benfleet's cricket manager Ron Steed.

"After the covers were removed there were wet and dry patches and it made things hard. Towards the end there was another downfall but we carried on and got seven points rather than the four we would have got if the game had been abandoned."
