An Indian adventure is in store for two Brentwood youngsters who are about to travel out to the subcontinent as part of an expedition organised by the Fulcrum Challenge with the backing of the Jack Petchey Foundation and other charities.
Trene Rama and Jamie Schafer, both 16, have been chosen to join a team drawn from across Essex and East London - including Harold - which will jet out to Delhi in October.
The two-week expedition into the Rajasthan region will see the group travel by camel into the Thar Desert to the remote village of Khange Sar where they will meet local Hindu and Muslim tribesmen and look to help improve the community's facilities.
After the visit to Khange Sar the group will go on to a jungle safari and then the Taj Mahal before returning home.
Trene, from Brentwood, said they were both busily fundraising for the trip: 'I am really looking forward to meeting the people in Rajasthan and seeing what their way of life is.'
