A mother who lost her daughter to cot death has set up a support group for other parents who have lost a child.

Jemma Sawford, who lives in the west Clacton area, lost her 6-month-old daughter Ruby Mae to cot death in 2002.

"I had no-one. Only the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID). There is no support in the Clacton area."

Mrs Sawford, 31, decided to do something for other parents in her situation. Every six to eight weeks she hires a room at Surestart's Hemmington House, Broadway, Jaywick, for parents to meet, have a cup of coffee and talk.

If parents have questions they need answers to Mrs Sawford will also try to help them. The next support group meeting is on Monday at Hemmington House, Jaywick, from 11am to 12.30pm.
