A centre for training of the unemployed has been broken into and vandalised.
Campaign slogans about a museum and William Julien Courtauld Hospital were daubed in red paint on the walls of Pelcombe Training in Silks Way, Braintree.
The front door of the building was forced open and as well as the graffiti, the bathroom was vandalised with some of the plumbing removed and the taps left on, causing a flood.
Some filing cabinets were also ransacked and the paper left on the floor damaged by the water. A spokesman for Pelcombe said he thought the clean-up would take a couple of days with carpets needing to be shampooed and the walls needing repainting.
He said: "I am going to get some posters to cover it up to make the place look more normal."
