Southend United boss Steve Tilson is focusing on his players' fitness levels, not their ability to win, as Blues begin their pre-season campaign at East Thurrock United tomorrow.
The Wickford born manager is planning to field different teams in each half, but admitted improving the Shrimpers' match sharpness was his major concern against the Southern League East outfit at Rookery Hill.
"I don't give a monkeys about East Thurrock or, to a certain extent, what the result is tomorrow afternoon," he said.
"All I'm concerned about is Southend United and making sure all of the lads are as fit as possible when we kick-off our League Two season against Cheltenham Town at Roots Hall on Saturday, August 7.
"That's why I'm planning to use as many players as I can and play a different team in each half."
