History has been brought back to life in Brentwood through a new documentary detailing the story of the Peasants Revolt.

Many shoppers in Brentwood High Street spotted television cameras and TV star Tony Robinson, made famous for his role on Time Team and as Baldrick in Black Adder, who were filming scenes for the programme which is set to air on Channel 4 this autumn.

Scenes were shot in the High Street, in and around the Baker's Oven and by the Chapel High Ruins.

The filming caused quite a stir among shoppers with many stopping to watch while Tony Robinson and the Spire Film crew worked.

The documentary, currently called The Peasant Revolt, will look into the events which followed May 30 1381 when the King, Richard II's, tax collector, Thomas Brampton, was chased out of Brentwood by villagers from Fobbing, Corringham and Stanford.
