An initiative to crack down on alcohol related disorder and crime in Chelmsford town centre has been hailed a success.
Police have been running operation Might since June 11 with officers put on high visibility patrols during weekend evenings.
Director of operations at Chelmsford Ch Insp Craig McGarrigle said: ''It has been a really effective operation. We've been doing it for about six weeks now and we've been dealing positively with anti-social disorder and liaising with the licensees. So far the results have been very positive and I hope we continue to reduce disorder.''
The operation sees officers patrol problem areas, such as the Riverside, and visit nightclubs and bars on either a Thursday, Friday or Saturday each week.
