A new improved visitor and tourist advice centre is on the way for a mid-Essex town.
Councillors in Chelmsford last night agreed to a partnership between the borough council and private travel firm, First Group.
First Group's staff would be responsible for running the new Chelmsford Visitors' Information Centre and the council will fund the service at a cost of £20,000 per year.
Chelmsford Council would also be responsible for managing the centre, and monitoring First Group staff, according to agreed guidelines.
A council spokesman said after the meeting, First Groups staff could be assisting people requiring information as early as October.
