Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses were left without power in Shoebury and Great Wakering yesterday.
A cable fault hit homes and businesses shortly before 10am causing widespread disruption. The cut, the fifth in the last month, meant customers at one Great Wakering hair salon were left without hairdos.
Drinkers were left high and dry at the Exhibition Inn when staff were unable to get the pub ready for customers. Cuts hit the same area for hours on Saturday and for several hours during high winds on July 7.
A spokesman for EDF Energy said: "All customers were reconnected by 11am. Engineers are working to investigate the cause. We apologise to customers for the recent interruptions to their power supplies."
