Southend swimming club diving star Tracey Richardson today revealed she was relishing the prospect of competiting in this summer's Olympic Games.
But the 21-year-old, who trained at Warrior Square before gaining a scholarship in South Carolina, admitted she was beginning to feel pre-event nerves.
She said: "They are already starting to come. But obviously I'm really excited as well. It's the dream of every athlete to compete at the Olympics and I'm no different - I can't wait to get out there."
Richardson, speaking after receiving 139 items of Great Britain team wear at Earl's Court, will leave for Greece on Sunday, August 1, to stay at a training camp before making the switch to Athens.
Once there she will attempt to qualify for the final of the individual three-metre springboard. "That's what I'm hoping for," she added.
