Sandra Gant, 48, of Wellesley Road, Clacton, was last seen on November 15, 2003, in Hayes Road, Clacton. It is eight months since she went missing.

At a press conference yesterday, one of her daughters, 17-year-old Lauren Cheasley, broke down as she appealed for help.

Her sister Carrie, 26, from Great Oakley, took over and made the tearful appeal on behalf of the family. "We miss her so much and need to know where she is and if she is OK," she said.

Det Supt Gareth Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said 139 searches of vehicles and homes were made and 337 statements had been taken.

He said: "We are still unable to provide answers to the family and we are appealing for anyone with information to contact the investigating team and allow us to investigate and tell the family what has happened to Sandra."
