Hundreds of Panfield residents have finally had their phone lines repaired after they were left without a service for nearly a week.
British Telecom confirmed yesterday the majority of its 500 customers had had their phone lines reconnected after the severe storms last Wednesday and Thursday.
Underground cables were damaged due to heavy rain and engineers had to replace ducts and cables in the Kynaston Road and Church Hill area of the village.
Residents were left without any phone service and British Telecom diverted calls to customers' mobile phone lines.
A spokesman for British Telecom said: "It was unfortunate that repairs to this fault took longer than normal but we would reassure customers that our engineers worked as quickly as possible to get the fault fixed."
