Schools across Basildon are competing for cash rewards as part of a national recycling initiative.
So far 17 schools have signed up to recycle Yellow Pages directories, run by Yellow Pages, the Directory Recycling Scheme and the Woodland Trust.
The school which collects the most directories will get £300 with £200 and £100 respectively going to schools in second and third place.
