An environmental crusader will be taking tea with the Queen in recognition of the community work she does.
Eileen Tyrer, of Larksfield Crescent, Dovercourt, has been invited to go to Buckingham Palace later this month.
She was nominated by some people she goes dog-walking with, who felt she deserved thanks for her dedication.
Mrs Tyrer said: "I wondered if it was a joke at first, but I got my invitation through the post and I'm absolutely delighted.
"I haven't been told exactly why I've been nominated to go to Buckingham Palace but I think it is because of the work I do in the community."
Mrs Tyrer is chairman of Harwich Environmental Action Team (Heat).
