A mother has urged clubbers to be careful after her 19-year-old daughter believes her drink was spiked at a Southend club.
Lindsey Firth, from Cedar Drive, in Hullbridge, says she is still suffering blurred vision and headaches after last Friday's incident at the Chameleon nightclub.
Her mother, Kim, is speaking out in a bid to prevent other clubbers falling prey to drink spikers.
Mrs Firth said: "We got a phone call at 11pm from Lindsey in the club saying she thought her drink had been spiked because she couldn't see.
"She suddenly felt really ill and she couldn't find her friends. I knew she wasn't drunk because she'd only gone out a short while ago."
A spokesperson for Chameleon nightclub said: "The incident was investigated and no other incidents of alleged drink spiking were reported that evening. The young lady was cared for in a professional manner and the venue arranged for her parents to collect her from the club."
