A South Woodham pub landlord has been fined £3,000 for repeatedly disturbing his neighbours with loud music.

Thomas Nash, of The Whalebone Inn, on Old Wickford Road, had already been served an order by environmental health officers in September last year over noise levels.

Last week at Witham Magistrates' Court, Mr Nash was found guilty of two offences of causing noise nuisance through amplified music on February 13 and April 30 this year.

Three more offences of a similar nature, which occurred on May 28, 29 and 30 this year, were also taken into consideration.

Along with a £3,000 fine, Mr Nash was ordered to pay £250 court costs.

A spokeswoman for Chelmsford Borough Council, which brought the prosecution, said: 'We take all complaints of noise seriously and will investigate them and take appropriate action.'
