More than 100 Hadleigh residents have united against speed problems in their area, calling for traffic calming measures to be put in place before the "inevitable" happens and someone is killed.
Castle Point council's chairman of highways and leisure, Ray Howard, has received a petition signed by 106 residents from Daws Heath Road demanding action against motorists who speed in their street.
The petition states: "Residents of Daws Heath Road, between John Burrows Recreation ground and the mini roundabout at Broomfield, are becoming increasingly concerned at both the speed and size of vehicles using this route."
The matter is up for discussion at the highways and leisure meeting next Monday.
The recommendation is that a site inspection be carried out along the road, from JH Burrows recreation ground to the junction with Broomfield, according to borough secretary John Waugh.
