An Essex charity is gearing up for its biggest annual fundraiser - with a little help from a Colchester racing driver.

The NSPCC's two-day book sale is held every October at Holmwood House School in Chitts Hill, Colchester.

Over the past 14 years it has raised more than £143,000, with profits going to local projects like the Young Witness Support programme. With just four months to go, the charity has joined forces with Fulvio Mussi to appeal for more books to sell.

Fundraisers are seeking copies in good condition as well as games, puzzles, DVDs and CDs.

Community appeals manager Julie Arthur said: "The book fair made £18,000 last year, which is a fantastic amount of money to raise for the NSPCC.

NSPCC supporter Fulvio, 18, a former pupil at St Benedict's College and the Sixth Form College, Colchester, is in his second season as a professional racing driver.
