Essex's last five front-facing safety cameras will be installed this week ready for a six-month trial into frontal photography.

The cameras do not detect speed but support existing rear-facing cameras, and are part of 10 trial sites aimed at aiding fairness.

The front-facing cameras are used as additional evidence in cases where there are issues over broken or dirty rear number plates and problems or disputes over driver identification.

The new cameras are based at sites in Southend Road, Billericay, A127 Arterial Road, Southend, Western Esplanade, Southend, Hogg Lane, Grays, and Chipping Ongar High Street.

Previous cameras are located in Nevendon Road, Wickford, Chigwell High Road, Stifford Road, South Ockendon, Lambourne Road, Chigwell, and Southern Way in Harlow.
