A young man was today recovering in hospital after being stabbed on Southend seafront.

The 17-year-old was stabbed in the back outside the New York, New York arcade on Marine Parade just before 6.30pm last night.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and he was taken to hospital, where his condition was described as serious but stable.

The man who inflicted the stab wound is described as 18 to 20, of medium build, five ft five ins tall, with short dark cropped hair. He was wearing black jeans, a blue jacket with a collar and black footwear.

A second man involved in the incident was aged 18 to 20, six ft tall, with short dark hair, wearing a beige or cream round-necked jumper, black jeans and trainers.
