Pupils were due to move back into their classrooms yesterday after rain water went through the roof of a Braintree school in storms.

Ten classrooms in the maths and science block at Notley High School were sealed off two days ago when rain penetrated the roof following torrential rain and high winds.

An electrical engineer was called in to test wiring and a spokesman at the Notley Road school said eight of the ten classrooms had been given the all clear for pupils to return.

However, two classrooms remain unusable and could be out of bounds until September.

Interactive white boards and text books were also damaged.
