Southend United striker Lawrie Dudfield will today discover the extent of the knee injury which has forced him to sit out pre-season training sessions with the Shrimpers.
The 24-year-old, who netted five times in 13 games last season, has been sent for an exploratory scan on the problem he picked up during a game of keep ball at Basildon's Gloucester Park last week.
"A few years ago Lawrie had a couple of operations on his knee," explained Blues physio John Stannard.
"It has swollen up a bit after he jarred it again, but hopefully it's just a pre-season niggle and he won't be out for too long."
