Castle Point Tories have rallied behind MP Bob Spink and seen off an attempted no confidence vote.
At a Conservative Association meeting, a motion aiming to criticise one of its own bodies, the Westminster Club, which raises funds locally, was rejected.
A second motion, aimed at censuring Mr Spink himself, was withdrawn. An earlier investigation into alleged misuse of Westminster Club funds found there had been no wrongdoing.
A source close to the executive council, who wish to remain nameless, said: "The executive council has brought the association into disrepute yet again, making it a laughing stock.
"The MP must not be subject to political interference from a few senior officers who have their own personal agendas."
