Residents have criticised plans to build flats in a Colchester road.

They have objected to Matthews Smith Developments' application to demolish the houses, one of which was wrecked by fire on Sunday, and put up 24 new homes.
It wants permission to replace 48, 50 and 52 Mersea Road, Colchester, plus number eight Meyrick Crescent, to make way for 24 homes.
Residents of Meyrick Crescent are against the plans, which will be considered by councillors at a town hall meeting on Thursday.
Eleven people have written to Colchester Council's planning department raising a series of objections to the proposal.
They include concerns that parking in the street is at saturation point, which they say would be made worse by more homes.
