Maldon's Promenade Park will be teaming with police, paramedics, firefighters and coastguards on Sunday for the district's annual 999 Safety Day.
Bombs will be exploded and chip pans will be set alight as the county's emergency services put on more displays for safety awareness than in any previous year.
This year's displays in the main arena include at 1pm a controlled explosion from a bomb disposal unit and at 3pm a police display on road accidents and how not to drive.
The main event is at 2pm when all the services combine to perform a river rescue operation, saving someone from a barge at sea.
As well as the main displays there will be stalls from almost 20 community groups including Essex Search and Rescue, Football in the community and the district council animal warden with dogs on show.
