Postal deliveries from Shoebury sorting office were disrupted for a second day.

Supplies to the George Street sorting office were cut because of the storms on Wednesday evening and had still not been reconnected by Friday.

A Royal Mail spokesman said they had a generator, so were able to do some sorting.

He added: "Special deliveries and important mail got out to our 9,000 customers who were affected."

He apologised for the delays.
