A nursery welcomed families through the doors for the first time after a major overhaul.

Sir Teddy Taylor MP opened the Cockleshell Neighbourhood Nursery's new building, which will provide day care for youngsters as well as a meeting place for people in the community.
The nursery is located in the grounds of Southend Adult Community College, Ambleside Drive, and is the first in Southend to be set up by the Pre-school Learning Alliance.
