There will be no local participation in this year's Open Golf Championship, which gets underway at Royal Troon on Thursday.
Two Orsett players who got through the regional qualifying round at their home course a week ago both failed to overcome the final qualifying hurdle, which took place over four courses in Scotland.
Amateur Steve McAnally was at Glasgow Gailes and, after a 74, slumped to 79 for a 153 total. And pro Ross Dee was also off the mark with 73 and 70 for 143 at Irvine.
The biggest hard luck story came from former Thorpe Hall man Brett Taylor, now an unattached pro.
A 72 had seen him through the regional qualifier at Hadley Wood and he shots rounds of 73 and 72 at Glasgow Gailes - only to be beaten for the fourth and last spot in the Open field from that course by Anthony Miller (Acorn Golf) in a play-off.
